SPRING JOURNAL

She captures a vital touch of desire
in the spray of bergamot, mimics the
tenacity of an ancient oak, twisting up and around
towards a rising sun.

She borrows wisdom from the rich green of mossy stone
and magic from the nightly emanations of jasmine
clinging to the gentle breeze.

​She comes alive as spring bursts through the latent soil
answering the call of water falling, finally
in soft rushes.

In her palms, she holds
the bold hope that rings from
bright geranium and royal lavender
and travels through centuries in the waves of a forest
in the roots of the sea
in a lifted leaf
on a whispered breeze.
